Joining Martin Aitken & Co, CA
Our commitment to provide outstanding client care over a wide spectrum of services makes us determined to provide a working environment for our 70+ staff that promotes our core values of Care, Success and Enjoyment. These three core values now firmly underscore MACO’s culture and service. By maintaining them, we preserve and perpetuate what has always been special and different about working for Martin Aitken & Co.
We have a diverse range of clients and this provides challenging and stimulating work for all of our employees. The current MACO team consists of innovative and enthusiastic people with a strong desire for success. Within this working environment all of our staff, regardless of their status within the firm, can reach their potential and evolve personally, professionally and intellectually.
Continuous Professional Development
Our focus on life long learning has long been established and is central to how we operate as a firm. We invest a great deal of time, effort and money in staff training and development and pride ourselves in being an Accredited Employer for training with ICAS, ACCA (Platinum Status) and AAT.
Excellent client care is driven by better informed staff making better informed decisions. Martin Aitken & Co is committed to offering our clients an exceptional service, therefore, it is absolutely essential that everyone receives training that enables them to provide clients with proactive and up-to-date advice.
We invest in career development through structured in-house training, external training, staff appraisals and other internal opportunities. We will support you every step of the way with both your technical training and ‘softer skills’ training to help you reach your full potential in your chosen profession.
In addition to a highly competitive salary, we will reward the contribution of our employees through an excellent benefits package which typically includes:
We are committed to the Work/Life balance ethos, recognising that there is a direct correlation between high client satisfaction ratings and those of staff. Many of our staff work part time and our flexible hours allow staff to choose hours that suit their lifestyle.
Investors in People
We gained our Investors in People accreditation in 1998 and have retained it ever since. This has been achieved by effective communication from both Partners and staff and the promotion of an ‘open door’ culture within our firm where staff are shown mutual respect and encouraged to participate in driving the practice forward.
Corporate Social Responsibility
MACO places at the vanguard of our culture, an emphasis on lifting our head above the parapet and seeing the bigger picture. For Martin Aitken & Co, Corporate Social Responsibility – or corporate citizenship – is about taking care of others; being responsible, being accountable, not only caring for our employees and our clients but caring for society as a whole, this is intrinsic to how we operate.
We select a new charity every two years (currently The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice) and our staff are fully involved in fundraising and teambuilding activities.
Recycling within the firm is now second nature and we are constantly striving to reach that elusive goal of being a paperless office!
The Sociable Side
“Boring Accountants”, not us! At Martin Aitken & Co we work hard and play hard and you will have plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues at one of our many social events. We have regular events such as quiz nights, bowling, charity fundraisers and other smaller ad-hoc events such as 5-a-side football, 10K runs & walking – something to suit everyone.
