'Off the Beatson Track': Beatson Cancer Charity

Beatson Cancer Charity's (BCC) signature sponsored 6.5 mile walking event 'Off the Beatson Track' took place on 27th August 2017 and Martin Aitken & Co's budding team of walkers and west end explorers were delighted to take part again in this year's event.

Beatson Cancer Charity was formed on 27 February 2014 following the merger of Friends of the Beatson and the Beatson Oncology Centre Fund. The resources of these two charities were brought together to create a single charity dedicated to supporting The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

Beatson Cancer Charity is determined to beat cancer and is committed to securing significant funding to support and enhance the treatment, care and well being of current, former and future cancer patients and their families. You can find out more about BCC and how to get involved here >more.

Since Martin Aitken & Co partnered with Beatson Cancer Charity, we have raised over £6,383. The money has been raised from a variety of sponsored walks, including Challenge Arrochar and Off the Beatson Track and in the office events such as the Beatson Bake-off Challenge.

How will the money make a difference to the Beatson's patients and their families?

  • £25 will fund an hour of complementary therapy such as reflexology or massage to help patients.
  • £75 will help fund an hour of their highly experienced therapy management team to support patients.
  • £500 will help to fund a specialist relaxation chair for patients receiving chemotherapy.

There is still time to donate via the Martin Aitken & Co Just-Giving page

We have a few other events planned for later in the year and we will publish regular updates on these pages, so do look in to find out how the team are getting on. Keen to get involved yourself? The Beatson team would be delighted to hear from you <more.
